Physicians

May 1st, 2010

A physician is a doctor that is used on regular basis, or for a specific occasion. Many people hate going to see physicians, and hold off until a serious problem persists. People have many different physicians. Until the age of eighteen people have primary pediatricians. These types of physicians work with children and perform annual check ups and procedures on them. They specialize on procedures that are specific to children and their immune systems. Parents are required to bring children to see these physicians because they are under age. It is extremely important that children see the same physician when they are younger so that they can be closely monitored properly and records are not lost. This also creates a significant bond between the child and the physician, seeing as how children hate the doctor. After the age of eighteen a teenager is required to find a primary care physician. These physicians are used to ensure the young person stays healthy. Most people experiment at first with new doctors to see who best fits them. Once the physician is chosen, most people stick with them for life. This creates a comfortable environment for both the patient and the doctor, and ensures that they are the healthiest possible. A primary care physicians purpose is to know a patients body inside and out, and create a trust between themselves and their patient. Many times people will go to this doctor for every diagnosis and every check up unless there is an emergency, or a referral has been made by the physician.

Everyday millions of people are in and out of hospitals for different things. A hospital is used for emergency care, cancer treatment, baby births, surgery, eye exams, regular check ups and much more. The hospital is the most important facility because it keeps people healthy. Many times people are scared of hospitals because they hate the smell, needles, sick environments, doctors, bad news, and much more. The majority of society make a negative correlation between hospitals and death. This is so because everyday many people die in hospitals all around the world, and for the most part this is the last place people see when they pass. The flip side to this is that the first place a person is at birth is a hospital. For every death there is in a hospital, there is a birth to compensate for it. Millions of babies are born every day in hospitals all around the world.

Medicine

May 1st, 2010

Medication is a substance used to take away pain, heal, or sedate people all around the world. Used by doctors to treat patients, and filled by pharmacists medicine helps everyday to prolong and save life. Thanks to the study of medicine the life expectancy of the average human has increased over time. This of course differs from country to country due to the access to such drugs, and the wealth a given country has. The access to medicine a country has, can determine how much a will prosper, and effects every other aspect of that country as well. If the people of a country are not healthy, it is virtually impossible for it to grow and compete in the global economy. Medicine is often used to cure many medical conditions including cancer, diabetes, ADD, dementia, cramps and headaches, and many more. Additionally, medication is used to ease the pain after surgery, accidents, and even toothaches. The worst thing medicine is used for however is to cure emotional pain. Medicine can become an addictive measure taken when someone is hurting and can’t get rid of the funk associated with it. Often times this leads to addiction for the long term and makes medication a detriment to health rather than a preventative measure. When dealing with medicine it is crucial that people take into account how easily it can be used and abused and ultimately cause disease and even death.
